Kate hated being alone in this kind of world; the living dead were crawling everywhere, no friends to be found, but at least she had her two horses. She taught herself how to hunt and track before this shit happened, but it was still going to be tough for her. She had to learn to survive alone; to scavenge, kill the living dead things, and maybe, in the future, possibly kill one of her own kind just to save herself. Will she meet any survivors? Will she survive? Or will she become one of those things? Will mankind ever be the same again? Who knows. But she knew that even after all of this, she wouldn't be the same. She lost her family, but maybe not everything.

The zombie apocalypse started in April. Hannah couldn't fathom how she was able to remember something so irrelevant, although when she has over a year of isolation from any other living human being it's startling as to how much detail and information one person can manage to reminisce. She was 15 years old when it began. Now, she was turning 17 and nothing had gotten better. If anything, everything had become harder. Human extinction was inevitable and the probability of surviving wasn't just slightly possible, it was impossible. Especially when she's alone.
