Marney Jacobs is a 17 year old, academic star at her grand high school in her small town. She president of Key Club, captain of the debate team, and assistant coach of the All Saints High boy's basketball team. Things are going great for Marney and she has a bright future until tragedy strikes her family. With half of her family gone Marney closes in, isolating herself. Her mother finding a new love with a man named Jack Daniels while she finds a bit of solace in a local loner girl. However, Marney quickly manages to get her life back, with a golden coin, a fall dance, and a wishing well.
