(Ranked #3 in horror on 7/31/16) "In those days, men shall seek death, and not find it. They shall desire to die, and Death will flee from them." -Revelation 9:6 "And the Lord will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. On that day they will be terrified, stricken by the Lord with great panic. They will fight their neighbors hand to hand." -Zechariah 14:12-13 The LQP-79 zombie virus was first heard of in 2012. A man who had the virus attacked another man, chewing his face off. It wasn't until 20 minutes later, when the Miami police arrived to the scene. When officers arrived they shot the 'zombie' but he ignored it, almost as if he didn't know he had been shot. He got shot four times before he actually died. Many people blame the attack on drugs, like "bath-salts", but if only they knew the truth. They couldn't find bath-salts in the man's system. He tested positive for LQP-79. The Miami officials deny any existence of this virus, but they don't realize that keeping this dirty secret is going to bite them later. LQP-79 seems to have been forgotten, until ten years later. Years later, people attack Jerusalem, and declare war against the Jews. This makes God extremely angry. When LQP-79 resurfaces in 2022, ten years later, as a result of God's wrath, people scramble to find a cure, knowing that this virus is extremely capable of becoming airborne. It is then, that people realize that this virus is a lot more than they can handle. 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

It's funny, really. It's funny how as kids we always played these zombie games and thought it would be so cool to be in a zombie apocalypse. We tried to figure out who out of our friend groups would die first, and who would live to the end. We were fascinated as young boys by the shooting games where you would blow a zombie's head off without a second thought. They were monsters. Nothing more. You barely thought of how they were once human. Because they weren't. It was just a game. Or it was just a movie. But when it became real life, you could see the family photos of the zombie you just killed. You could see the dead children who had been beaten to death by their own mother. The same mother whose skull you just bashed open on her kitchen floor for trying to rip your jaw apart. They were all once alive. And the outbreak ended their lives. They could have been your cousin, your friend, your neighbor. It could have been you. But you hold on to the fact that it wasn't. And because of that, you go on. ___ Set in 2037, two years after the worldwide bacterial infection called The Cure started, Mason Martinez and his two buddies try their best to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. But when Mason finds out about a so-called "safe zone" about 4 cities from where he stands, Mason strives to find it. Even if that means he has to cross the 4 main factions of his area. The Lab Coats, The Mercenaries, The Raiders, and the worst of all, The Salvation. And to find this safe zone, Mason is willing to do whatever it takes.

*completed* Viruses always seem to win in the end, don't they. Even when the entire planet is fighting for its life, it grasps around itself faster than anyone could ever stop it. So what do you do when you can't stop it? You close it off, contain the infected area, to save yourself. That's exactly what happened to Y/N, locked in the city with nothing but the infected ones. This wasn't a normal virus however, not like those that just make you cough. No, this was one that turned people into vicious killers, making them lose their minds. The closest thing to it ever known was the term zombies, but even those weren't dangerous enough to describe them. Escaping is the only chance of survival, but how does one escape the inevitable? When death was near, who is the person who saved you?
