Riley Brown is a High School Civil Rights activist living in Chicago, during the Civil Rights Era, doing everything that she can to make people aware of the inhumane uncivil acts going on in the South. But living in the North she hasn't had many violent run-ins with racism so she can't fully sympathize with the Black Southerners. That is until her family packs up and moves into Jackson, Mississippi.

When you are the first female footballer your school has since you don't have a lot of friends. For starters the Coach hates her and so does the cheerleaders but they have since she started school.
