How the Toronto Blue Jays Inspired Us About Baseball and Life In 53 Error-Filled, Ecstatic, Epic Minutes

"Engaging and articulate, like listening to a first-class baseball announcer. A must for every fan of the Blue Jays." - W. P. Kinsella, author of "Shoeless Joe," made into the movie "Field of Dreams"

Born in New York, Peter O'Brien played second base and right field for Better Value Furniture and Ebco Industries as a kid in Richmond, B.C. He had one home run and has never forgotten it. Before 1977 and the creation of the Blue Jays, he loved the Yankees (and still does, when they don't play each other). He has a BA in English from the University of Notre Dame (he didn't attend on an athletic scholarship), and an MA in English from McGill University. He has published articles and reviews in The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette, The Financial Post, and National Post, and has written or edited five books. The most recent, published in 2014, is Cleopatra at the Breakfast Table: Why I Studied Latin With My Teenager and How I Discovered the Daughterland. He lives in Toronto, and enjoys sitting in the 500-level seats at Jays games. He thinks you gain a better perspective when the whole game spreads out and unfolds in front of you.
