A young teen Iris Vauner lives in the aftermath of a major explosion that killed millions all over the world and led to humans stripped of their humanity as a result of everything gone just like that. The remaining survivors of both the invasion and the war were recruited into a settlement camp near them. Each settlement camp has its' own rules. Each year two men and two women are sent together to go outside their settlement and compete with opposing groups from other settlements and fight to bring back a years worth of supply for their settlement. Iris Vauner wants her settlement to win but she doesn't want to be chosen.

The majority of the quotes are from the movie. All of the characters belong to Ms. Collins. Maddie is the only character that is my original. All of her thoughts are also original.
