Amalia is not your average, peace-keeping, shadowhunter; she does not protect or serve mundanes and downworlders from the things that go bump in the night. Her incredible fighting abilities are used for an entirely different purpose, to be the perfect soldier for her notorious father, Valentine Morgenstern. Valentine has Amaila go undercover, as a mundane girl, into the New York Institute for shadowhunters. There, her mission is to gain intel on the location of the Mortal Cup and to kill anyone who gets in her way.
As she is accepted into the Institute there are relationships, secrets, and sacrifices, that complicate the mission. Amalia must learn to not love, even if it destroys her.
