The Last Laugh (a DC Comics Red Hood/Batman Fanfiction)

Former small time criminal, former Robin, former victim of the Joker, and formerly resurrected in the Lazarus Pitt, Red Hood, alias Jason Todd, has lived and seen it all. He's been trained by Batman, the League of Assassins, and the greatest martial artists the world has to offer and had learned through his experience that there is only one way to deal with criminals. By acting as judge, jury, and executioner, much to Batman and the rest of the Bat Family's dismay.

Since his return to the Gotham area his relationship with the rest of the Bat family (i.e. Batman, Alfred, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Robin, and Robin) has been less strained than it was in recent years. As Gotham crime rates have reached unfathomable proportions it has forced the team to band back together in order to have a hope to save Gotham and the borderland areas.

Though Batman has never seen eye to eye with Red Hood's tactics he has finally been able to admit (though not verbally) that he is overwhelmed and even the greatest detective in the world cannot be in several places at once. The territories surrounding Gotham have been split amongst the former Robins for greater coverage and Nightwing was able to convince their former master to allow Red Hood to claim the new county district of Avalon, the gray space between Bludhaven and Gotham City.

But everything changes when Gotham's worst comedian is found murdered in the annexed territory of Avalon. Will the team side with Red Hood? Will they flock to Batman's aide to hunt the former Robin down? Will the family ties be permanently broken or will a new reign of justice be brought to Gotham?
