"I love you, baby girl." I can hear the tremble of her hoarse voice, along with the angst and broken sound of despair that takes over her all at once. "I love you and--and I know you'll come back to me again." 

I feel my chest tighten in sorrow once I realize she's crying, a tear slipping past her cheek and down my neck where the wet stains trickle down my skin. I can feel a faint kiss on my forehead once more before her voice echoes through the room in a soft, broken whisper,
