The Acadmey of Dragon Riding Excellencecy has been hiden for 425 years, but it had few riders. People were loosing their 'belief'. That, among other things, cause them to be unable to be a dragon rider.
In a small town, three men in black, red and gold cloaks are asking people to send forth the thirteen year old children to test for dragon riders. The villages' strongest hunter, a teenage tom-boy, agrees to test.
She pulls back her hood, letting her brown braid hang down. Her brown cloak hung loose on her frame. She tests positive, and is wisked away, to the magic world of TADRE, & dragons!
She fights to blend with the other male riders, and earn the trust of her dragon, and her peers! When the acadmey plays a hiden card, she is forced to flee, and she learns a few things she had hid from herself...
She also discovers the school and its' staff have more secrets than she'd like to know about...

I grew up in a world where dragon riders were revered for not only their bravery and looks, but also for their intelligence. Children would spend days on end studying just in the hopes that they would get accepted to the Rider School, and those who did get accepted left their homes like kings, followed with respect and well wishes. It had been years since a dragon rider had been accepted in the Rider School from my town, which was understandable since we boasted a population of only 100 kids in the acceptable age range. Every year we were visited by the Counselor, the man who decided who would be accepted, and every year at that time our town lit up. Festivities lasted the Counselor's whole stay, with competitions to test children's intelligence, stamina, strength, and looks set up to look like games. Every year my brothers and I would be disappointed by our results, until my 15th year, when everything changed.... The dragon slowly opened a silver eye, with turquoise highlights near the pupil. She was awake, shown when she shifted and froze, before nervously turning her head to look at her wings; staring at them as if she had never seen them before. Her gaze travelled to the spines, the talons, and finally the shimmering scales that gave the illusion of liquid gold. A gust of wind moved the vines covering the entrance. Light flooded in, illuminating her surroundings, the dragon glittering and sparkling in the light. The wind died. The vines fell back. The darkness returned. And the dragonet trembled.
