Laney jumped awake sweating bullets, and panting heavily despite being too tired to even move. She ran her hands through her messy, unkept hair and peered around her dark room. Silence filled her room as she began to relax again. "It was just a nightmare, he can't get you here" she said aloud. She lay back down in her bed, planning on going back to sleep. But suddenly, through her tired eyelids, she saw her lanterns in her room begin to grow lighter, filling her room with dim light. Laney again opened her eyes and sat up, only to see multiple shadowy, child like figures surrounding the her bed. All staring at her with glowing white eyes. Silent. ''Don't you remember, little flower?'' he asked, his voice low and melodic, ''Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.'' ''Perhaps,'' I whispered, ''But Shakespeare was referring to a man...'' He cocked his head in confusion, his eyes growing darker. I leaned forward on the throne and brought my eyes up to meet his in an obvious challenge. ''Not a Queen.'' ~~~~~~ There's a whole side to Mara Monroe that's keeping her from what she was born to do. Coincidentally, it's her human side. Mara's always known that she couldn't choose what family she was born into. Even if it comes with a crown she doesn't want, age-old rivalries she doesn't understand, and a bodyguard she can't seem to shake. There are those that would die before seeing Mara on the throne. Or worse. Kill. *completed Book One*
