"Alright, Katti, you ready? You turn 18 in one minute exactly!" My brother Alex mentions. "It's very unlikely I'll find my mate today, guys. Don't get all excited," I say, laughing. "But what if you do? C'mon, it'd be legendary," Our friend Adrian points out. What a girl... rather a romantic maybe? "And if i do, it would be just so romantic when he asks how i found him," i say sarcastically. "Why?" asks Alex. "Because I'd have to say 'people watching on a community bench'." "What's romance got to do with anything?" OK, maybe Adrian's not such a romantic... I'm just not gonna sike myself out over something that could take years to happen. Alex and Adrian are both 21 and still haven't met their match. I don't appreciate disappointment, I've got high standards but no false hope. "OK, here we go..." Alex goes. I look over at him being silly. "Three..." I look past Alex to Adrian. He looks back, his face stuffed with hot dog. "Two..." Still looking at Adrian, he gives me a big cheesy, or should I say meaty, smile. "One, Happy Birthday!" Alex states. Hi, I'm a new writer and I don't know where this will go but for now I'll leave it a one shot and maybe come back to it. happy reading. :)

I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect.
