"Dinner's ready!" his dad called from the kitchen. Rex and his mom eagerly sat down and delved in. As usual they disscussed all the fun they had together that day. Just like yesterday. And the day before. That's all they would do, for years while war raged around them, they easily maintained a peaceful and lovely life. Rex was told that he doesn't need to worry about the war, that he's happy how he is and there's nothing he can do about it anyway. Maybe someday it'll end. But still he couldn't help wondering why. My parents disappeared and my sister died in an explosion caused by the republic forces, almost 10 years ago! I thought I'd never see any of them again, I was wrong. During an un-planned rescue, I learned of a message from an old Jedi master. I regret my instant reaction to the instructions I was given. I've been told poems that don't make any sense by ghosts. Don't call me insane, I know I am. One of them drills into me and I can't get it out. The ghost had told me, they loved droids so much, they became one. I don't know who they are? Me? Let's hope not. I then heard a strange, mechanical sounding, yet familiar voice from the bushes around me. "It's not." She answered. "It's me."

"All ready?" My mom says cheerfully "Because you look ready to go." "All ready." I say before I look out the window. She starts up the truck and heads out of the driveway. Some time through the drive my mom starts small talk. "So, how are you?" She asks politely "Was it decent? Okay?" "It was" I kind of think it over before continuing "It was... Not the place for me. Kind of like trying to put the square block in the triangle hole. I didn't fit in. Always being yelled at, I suppose." "I see" My mom begins "I am sorry for not talking more to you. Life has been busy. But I am glad to see you making a change for the better. If that is or was in your mind." I just nod. "My life wasn't fair there." I open up about what has been happening. "It was always about my step siblings or step mom. Always expecting me to be there, when they weren't there for me. Being expected to drop everything even if they knew several months in advance. My step mom wasn't the parent I needed. And my dad didn't step in to stop it." My mom sighs, just nodding as she listens. I know I should have chosen to live with her. But all those years ago my dad wasn't dating anyone. But to be honest neither was my mom. I feel bad now choosing dad over her. As I look out the window, my eyes feel heavy, and before I even know it I'm asleep.
