Viata i se schimba drastic atunci cind descopera un carnet misterios pe jos, cunoscut ca si "Carnetul Mortii". Instructiunile din acesta spun ca numele omului scris in carnet va muri. Light este initial sceptic de realitatea inscrisului, crezand ca este doar o gluma. Insa, dupa ce experimenteaza cu el si ucide doi infractori, este fortat sa recunoasca faptul ca acel carnet are puterile prevazute in el. Dupa intalnirea cu fostul detinator al sau, un shinigami numit Ryuk, Light planueste sa devina "Zeul unei lumi noi" prin executarea criminalilor. Odata aflat in posesia carnetului, decide sa curete lumea de sufletele impure si care ar duce la auto-distrugerea ei, sau cel putin pastrarea starii actuale. Astfel, atrage atentia lui L, un detectiv renumit, si incearca sa profite de asta, apropiindu-se de el si pretinzand ca va ajuta cu investigatia, in ciuda banuielilor deja conturate de L in privinta lui.All Rights Reserved

I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. A tall man with a mask and dark sunglasses covering his face. The man also wore a hat to cover his hair. His clothes appeared to be layered, and he carried a large bag that seemed very heavy. However, there was something the man could not hide. The clear scent of blood emanating from his body. Karin had a sharp sense of smell and was certain the odor she detected was blood. Chaos erupted in the school environment. People started forming their own opinions. Karin was the one most affected. She was often questioned about the body she found. People kept asking her to recount the story. At that moment, a new teacher arrived, diverting the attention of the school community. A young teacher with a handsome face that drew everyone's attention. The murder case faded away just like that. The police couldn't find any more clues. When people started to forget, Karin felt something was off. The young teacher looked strange in her eyes. Karin felt that the teacher was constantly watching her. The teacher also had a blacklist that he showed to his students. He said the book was a record for the naughty children. If their offenses exceeded three times, those naughty ones would be punished. That's when the next murder began.
