The metal hinge began to squeal as I slowly nudged the door inside fixating my eyes on a line of syringes sitting on an extended black table.

 What I saw next made my pupils dilate as my body adjusted to the adrenaline rush.
~~~
There were 7 steel containers, each painted a different color.
With a trembling hand I managed to open the dark red one, three igneous rocks that were the shade of ashes resided there. The green one had a rather ambiguous looking plant the size of a bonsai bearing a huge flower. This flower had veins reaching out in all directions creating a psychedelic pattern and a very preternatural one. I continued to watch as the flower sensitized under the touch of my index finger, changing colors.
But it was only later that I realized the blackening surface that began to form on the tip of my fingers as if I was desiccating.
Prologue I used to have a nightmare when I was younger. It was always the same order and the same impact. It started with the warmth of sand consuming my feet. I looked up to see a warzone. There were flashes of fire, water, and lightning. It was like a war of the gods. Suddenly I felt the heat on my back. I turned to see neon red and yellow flames consume me. I ran to hide in the bushes that were next to me, feeling out of breath I tried to calm myself down. Strands of dark red hair covered my face. I proceeded to swipe my hair and look at my surroundings. I heard sobbing coming from near me. I trudged through the bushes and toward the sobbing when I got to under a willow tree. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked. I saw a girl with long dark red hair being the cause of the sobbing. She had a huge gash on her forehead with blood trailing down her face. She also had burns on her arms and shirt. The boy was in much worse condition. He was covered in burns, she was covering his face with only his hair showing. They both had the same colored hair. Suddenly my necklace started to glow with an amber color. The girl in front of me had a similar amber glow. Two amber crowns sat on top of the pillow. One female and one male crown sat on top of the pillow. Once I walked closer the glow came back. Once I grabbed the tiara everything became white. I was once again in another room, I attempted to move but I mysteriously couldn't. A neon purple bolt of lightning hit my chest. We both locked eyes with each other. Was that me? Before I could find out, the ground started to be drained into a whole. I was sucked into the drain and everything soon became black and I was free-falling. My back soon hit the ground of the room. I rose to look at the surroundings of the new room I was in. I fell to my knees from the pain. Then a person walked forward and grabbed my face.
He settled to his instincts. Instincts that made him borderline obsessive. Teressa, being ignorant to everything, dived into a world that took her back to the darkest part of her life. A life that kept following her from the past, along with the twin brothers. Reaching my hand into the drawer, I felt around until my hand came into contact with the metal hilt. My fingers curled around the handle instinctively. I gripped the handle so hard it hurt. I could feel the tendons in my wrist snap as my knuckles turned white. I couldn't let him do that to her again. I just couldn't. I had to protect her. I couldn't just stand there still and do nothing forever. I had to act. I winced at the slight sound of the blade dragging against the wooden bottom of the drawer. Although it was more like a sibilant hiss, it sounded more like a large grating sound in my ears. My heart was pounding and my ears were ringing. I could feel my hand holding the blade tremble as I slowly drew it out of the drawer and held it to my side. I had to steel myself for my confrontation. I couldn't hide in the shadows any longer. I had to do something...anything. I couldn't be a bystander anymore. I couldn't bear that pain again. I didn't want it to be all my fault again. [Note: This is a collaborative work]
