In a world, destroyed by greed and power, lies what was once North America. In the midst of this new world, lies the nation of panem, with an all powerful Capitol that lives a life in luxury, and 12 individual districts. To scare the districts to prevent an uprising that could destroy them all, a pagent is held, allowing two teenagers in each district between the age of 12 and 18 to fight to the death, and the lone victor is bathed in riches. This year is the annual 50th hunger games, and young Haymitch Abernathy and Maysilee were chosen for this years district 12 tributes. Haymitch and Maysilee must become reluctant allies as they fight for their very own survival in The Hunger Games.
