Most people think that when we die, we go stand in a line or at a gate waiting for judgement to be passed on us, ultimately condemning us to eternal torture or to eternal bliss. Thane Atos thought the same thing until he "died". What he seen wasn't a line of people waiting to be judged or pearly gates or even a fiery sea, it was an empty room with a table in the middle. On the table was a note that would change how he saw himself forever.

There is theory, that when a person experiences a near-death, he or she comes by to a coma, going in an alternate universe where all souls dwell to await their final judgement. The "Borderline" as they call it. In here, they experience "bliss", the perfect description of happiness. That's what they said that you would feel right before you die. But if you're lucky enough, you get to experience it and wake up the next to live to tell them the truth about the afterlife.
