"What's this one?" the toddler asked. "Ooh! Close door!" Experimentally, she pressed it. The elevator doors closed. She looked up as a sickening thud locked her out from the rest of the world. Thirteen-ish years later, Evelyn Grace hasn't been found by most of the world. She's hiding with the loners and the runaways at the Manhattan Mall. It's a rather simple lifestyle: Steal. Hide. Survive. But it all changes when Raven Kay escapes into their midst. Afraid of anything and broken beyond repair, she's nothing like the outcasts have ever hosted before.

The asylum was supposed to be empty. But when Dr. Evelyn Carter steps inside, the air feels alive-thick with whispers, memories, and something far worse. "Did you hear that?" Marcus mutters, but Sophia's voice trembles: "It's not the living you should fear here." Locked doors creak open. Shadows twist and shift. And a voice calls softly from the darkness: "You shouldn't have come." What lies within these walls refuses to stay buried. But some truths are better left forgotten.
