Rapture [Ver. II] •SNEAK PEEKS INSIDE• by athenamaddox
14 parts Ongoing Mature
"Those who so closely served their falsely gilded kings told the common people that the killings were some sort of Rapture," he said scornfully, poison thick on his tongue. "But what really happened on that day was what we called a Bloodletting. To cut into the veins and draw out the sullied blood so that the body may live. That is their Rapture. So when the wealthy mainlanders scorn us to our rotting moors and shackle us in the chains tarnished of our brothers and sisters blood, remember that the royal killings were a mercy to the common man, and not to their poisonous kings-a gift from our gods. Not theirs." ... After desecrating a lawless holy site and being marked for death by thieves' gods before being so much as conscious, Finn is forced to sign his life away to the pirates who found him-because Finn and their captain have something in common. Both are marked by a tattoo that could get them killed by anyone who would discover it. Bound by the honor of a mark he can't remember anything about, and a life debt to the pirates, Finn is quickly taken under the begrudging Captain North's wing. But, when his name echoes in the pirate haunts with talks of a bounty, the pirates are keen to cash in-only to find out that more than just this tattoo links them together. They have a common enemy, too. Someone who will stop at nothing to measure them both for chains. Finn and Captain North are forced to depend on each other if they want to survive the hunt and protect their secrets, but with promises of revenge and memories of the past lurking behind their shoulders, there's no telling if they'll survive-and whether or not they'll have any coin to show for it.

A story told in two perspectives. Set in an alternate industrial world where radio technology is rendered nearly obsolete due to a magnificent yet mysterious and devastating phenomenon that has crippled its use. Nations has prospered with the further development of flight and the inception of the skyship, a series of heavily-armed floating warships that has the ability to cross continents and wrest control of the skies. This story arc is told in the perspective of a young Aurelian soldier, Everent Clauvis Griswall, who struggles to come in terms with his brother's 'death'. Severely delusional and suffering from a complex, he inadvertently sets out to find the truth behind the War that had killed his brother and engulfed the whole continent of Steiffer with chaos and death. The second story arc is set in the future Earth where an unexpected turn of mysterious events has triggered a massive War that has destroyed many countries, rendering the surviving nations struggling for what's left of the resources on the ravaged world. Unable to travel across devastated wastelands stretching hundreds of miles apart, nations have developed and built gravitational elevators as a main mode of transport among each other. The second story arc is told in the perspective of Jeremiah Kelson, a young and aspiring scientist/operative who had an unexpected military background and skill. Having no memories of his past, Kelson finally sets out to find the roots of his forgotten memories without knowing that it would place him in dangerous situations in search of his past life. After crossing paths with many different peoples of the other world, Kelson would eventually begin to question himself of his origins and has decided to find it out. Little does he know that fate will bring him in a chance encounter with another young soldier that might have some connections with him, leading to the revelations of a bigger and more shocking truth of the relations between the both worlds...

Historical romance about a human girl and a merman. [Preview] A long arm snaked around her waist, pulling her through the current. Adrenaline hit her like a crushing force, and she saw whisps of white silk clouding around her vision. She began to struggle vehemently, still holding onto her sketchpad as tightly as possible. She raised the book above her head and beat it against the iron body, dragging her deeper. She felt her sketchpad suddenly get snatched out of her hand. The flash of white crossed in front of her and two eyes, dark as death, watched her so closely that she could see nothing else. Her chest throbbed with the desperate need to breathe, and she began to struggle again, thrashing her limbs as much as she possibly could to unleash herself from the creature's locked hold. Powerless, exhausted, and drowning, Victoria's eyes fought to remain open as she ceased fighting her fate and grew still. The pain in her chest seemed to pulsate throughout her entire body, and she felt the darkness coming on, but she ignored it as she remained listelessly suspended in the deep abyss. The black eyes remained fixated on her face as if she were the only thing that existed. Her eyes fluttered closed, but not before she saw the obsidion depths of the creature's eyes swirl and turn to a dark shade of sapphire blue.
