Both Ryder and Crystal face the biggest year of their lives and after the first day it already looks like Crystals most important rule is falling apart. Can this ambitions girl finally get her life together or is the mysterious Ryder going to give her a reason to once and for all give up her strict rules.

Crystal: Today was the day my life would get back on track I couldn't and I wouldn't stay in the past. I know what happened to me was a terrible thing but I have learned from my mistakes and for the first time in my life I'm ready for a new start. I just hope that this new high school 4417 miles away is right for me otherwise I may as well give up my future now because this is my one and only chance of a better life. However I do have a few rules I plan on sticking to I hope...
Rule 1: stay unnoticed, don't stand out
Rule 2: get good grades
Rule 3: have one or two friends no more
Rule 4: Absolutely no boyfriends
Ryder: My main promise I made to myself and have followed still remains intact; to never ever let my guard down for anybody and stick to my 4 rules. After my heart-breaking drama with my mum my only protection was to build a wall between me, my sister and them (them being the rest of the world). Up  until the first day of the new school year I thought it was going to be simple but that was until I laid eyes on the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, but the question is Is she worth all the pain I knew she would cause.  My 4 rules are;
Rule 1: Don't trust anyone
Rule 2: no emotional attachment to girls
Rule 3: Save up for sister's treatment
Rule 4: Never reveal what happened last year
