When Lily Harper’s parents decide to move back to their small town for better sakes, she isn’t so psyched about coming back to town especially since she hasn’t been in touch with any of her friends or her two best friends; the shy and timid Tinley and the introverted music lover Hayden. Together, Lily, Tinley and Hayden were inseparable as little kids, always having play dates at each other’s homes. In the three years she’s been gone, she supposes they’ve still remained close to each other and have completely forgotten about her. What surprises Lily the most is when she arrives in town and sees two very distant friends.
Tinley, the shy and timid little girl isn’t so shy anymore – she’s the head cheerleader and her raven black hair is now coded with light blonde hair. Hayden, the music lover has given up on his dreams of being a musician, and instead is chasing his father’s dream of being a quarterback in the major league. Hayden and Tinley aren’t the only ones that have changed, Lily’s changed also. She’s no longer the 4.0 goody goody, she’s spoiled and acrimonious.
But when a jock at Almira High School is murdered, it marks the fourth student murdered that year. Lily, Hayden and Tinley will need each other more than anything when one of them becomes the next target. With the help of Lily’s childhood enemy Elliot Tanner, they’ll unravel secrets that their small town of two hundred holds and find the murderer before he or she strikes again.
