"Do you.. know how it feels like to be trapped in the darkness?" she asked slowly. Afraid that, if another word comes out of her mouth she'll break. And that thin wall she's been keeping in place for years would eventually crack

When he didn't answer, she spoke once again

"..when you've been so used to the dark that you'll go blind when you see the light?" she whispered, her voice cracking. When he heard this, he kept a forced straight face as if he was restraining himself to just run back to her and assure her that everything was going to be okay..

..even when its not

He stared at her, narrowing his eye ever so slightly, but not moving an inch closer

"I.. I can't come with you to the light.."

It hurt. Not just because she said so, but also because he KNEW she was hurting.. She wanted to be freed, to be able to walk freely, to be able to live..

..Like she used to

"I can't be freed.. And you know.. who's fault that is?" the tone of her voice became more inaudible as she said so. As if being conquered by her emotions, she ran towards him, planning to kill him just as how he killed her sanity. Suddenly stopping a mere foot away by the clanging of the chains that was bound to be with her

..forever

"It was YOUR FAULT! You trapped ME! You made me turn into this.. this disgusting KILLER! YOU made ME kill THEM! YOU'RE going to PAY! I NEVER wanted to be like this! Why ME!? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?" she was having multiple voices from time to time. She held so much emotions that THOSE decided to speak with her. It was one of those times that even HE, himself, was almost afraid of her

"I'll get my revenge.. And when I do.." She laughed maniacally and stared at him with her bloodshot eyes

-- PROLOGUE "Let me get this straight. We have nothing in between us, except for the deal we made that day" he spoke in a monotonous tone. "I am the one carrying your name behind me; we are married. how can you say we have nothing in between us? Huh" She yelled at him, tears blurred her vision, and she spoke her heart to him. "For god's sake, this marriage was to save you! Can't you get that? I did not do it willingly, I do not love you!!" He yelled back at her, shattering her heart into pieces. "Why can't you just love me?" She spoke, as she cried the tears of hurt, and pain. Her heart thumped loudly due to the shivering sensation She felt all over her body. "I never made a commitment to you, or gave you any false hope, neither did i say that i love you. Did i?" He asked her, in a very cold tone. She looked at him through her teary eyes. It's getting difficult for her to even breathe. "It was your eyes, the damn eyes. Who gave me the false hope. They say, "Eyes speak the truth," but what about mine? Couldn't you feel the sincerity within them, expressing my deep affection for you? Why didn't you see the love shining in them? Was it too complex to understand? Couldn't you notice the warmth as they gazed at you? They search for you in every corner, If only you realized how they silently echoed the emotions I couldn't articulate. They say, "Eyes never deceive." But what about yours? They played a trick on me when they met mine, painting a facade of a world that wasn't real. They made me feel loved, Leading me into a belief that crumbled, louder than your spoken promises. Why did they betray me? Was it your eyes or you that masked the truth?" He stayed still, not moving or saying anything at her statement. --

"The fuck you are leaving me." His roar cracked through the hall like lightning. Ara didn't blink. She stood there, calm as death, done to her core. No tears. No tremble. Just a weary exhale as she turned her back on him - the one thing he never thought she'd do. Before she could take a step, his hand shot out, gripping her arm like he was holding on to life itself. "Where are you going, Ara!" His command shook the pack. But she wasn't his to command. Not anymore. Ara ripped her arm free with a force that made even his wolf recoil. "Don't. Touch. Me." Her aura slammed into him, cold and merciless. "You think I'll stand here and watch you mate and breed her?" she hissed, every word a dagger. His throat bobbed. "She meant nothing." She laughed - sharp, broken, brutal. "Yeah? That's why you were fucking her in your office? Couldn't even hide the scent of your betrayal." "Ara, it was a mistake-" She stepped closer, eyes blazing. "Your mistakes come in episodes, Alpha. Season one, season two, season three. You don't make mistakes. You make choices." He swallowed hard. "I don't need her. I need you." "Lies," she spat. "Every damn sentence you breathe is a lie. I can't even look at you without feeling sick." He flinched like her words physically hit him. "That female behind you?" she pointed, not bothering to glance. "Perfect for you. Go mark her. Breed her. Hell, fuck her for all I care." Her voice cracked - but she kept going, blade steady even when bleeding. "I don't need you. Not anymore." His knees crashed to the floor. The mighty Alpha. On the ground. For her. "Ara... I'm sorry. I'm really fucking sorry." His voice broke like he finally understood what loss tasted like. She stared at him with a sad, devastating smile. "Isn't it too late for that, Mate?" One tear escaped - and she crushed it away with her thumb. Then she turned. Walked. Didn't look back. But he didn't chase her. Because he knew. He didn't just lose her. He wrecked her.

"Who are you?" I asked, still left in the shock and scared state that came over me when gunshots were heard. He stood tall in front of me as we fell into silence again but only for a few seconds before he began to slowly move towards me. His face slowly being exposed to the light, giving me a glimpse of his icy grey eyes. "let's go" he spoke again before turning around. Nothing left my mouth as I stared at him in shock. He truly believed that I was part of this. The man, who I had lived with and served for months. The man who I had protected with my life and soul. I stood still while, as he backed away from me quickly. "I trusted you with my life." His cry pierced around the empty room. He looked so destroyed and hurt, but mostly his face portrayed rage and determation. "And I protected you with mine." I spoke back loudly. I didn't hear myself say it but I knew I did. I look into his eyes even from our distance they seemed to wallow me in darkness. "I gave you mine." My voice was quiet and cracked. His face changed only for a second before his old one took over again. He doesn't believe me. It doesn't matter what I say or do he won't listen. He will still believe I am the bad guy. Just as Kane said, we will never be equals, we will never be fellow humans. We will always be monsters to them. "Yakov, I am not the bad guy." I plead one last time. His Russian accent comes out harsh with his next words. "Your right," he pauses, "you are the villain." I stumble back as if I had just been stabbed in the chest. It was a horrible feeling. It was never good with the emotions and yet I recognize the feeling as heart beak. I barely breathe in air as I regain my posture. A battle cry from somewhere distracts me momentarily. Mask on... No identity. "Who are you?" I asked after the enchanting dance we just had. "You'll never know" he said. It was a party where everyone was masked. But there was something about this one person. Something enchanting , something magical, something intense, something that made her want to see him again. The way he held her close. The way they both moved in sync to the music. The way his eyes never left hers. The way her heart speed picked up every time he was around. The way she was nervous and couldn't help but look at him. But he wasn't all that different from her. . She was abused, so was he. She had nightmares, So did he. He was darkness, she was the same. His past was evil, hers was filled with cries. The things he did were unspeakable and unforgettable. She was innocent, he was not. He wasn't good for her. She tried to make peace, he was war. She wasn't feeling, he was DEAD. As she left the party she looked back at him one more time. "Will we see each other again?" she asked. "Certainly" he said kissing her knuckles before he disappeared into the night. She thought she would have never seen him again but then. "Your back" she said. "Yes I am" he said. "But your not yourself" she said. "I'm a monster" he said before he attacked her. "I want to know who you really are" she said. "If you knew you would run" he said. "Shhh.. Just one more" he said as he kissed her lips and was so wrapped up with the innocence present in her eyes. "Hold me" she said looking deep into his eyes. "Don't leave me" she said. "I can't stay" he said. "Why are you leaving?" she asked crying. "Don't worry we'll meet again" he said and walked down the lonely dark halls. "BYE" she whispered.

There are worse things than death. ___ "What is wrong with you?" I seethed. She had my back against the wall, pinning me down so I couldn't move. She was much stronger than me, even when I used my strength to get out of her embrace. I held her gaze and I knew that she was gone. There wasn't an ounce of goodness left in her body. She laughed at my question. Of course, I knew what was wrong with her. But I have to find a way to get her back. "What is wrong with me? Ha, nothing sweetheart." she told me with a smile on her face. "I'm just having a little fun." "Yeah, and fun for you is killing innocents," I growled. "Oh, I hate to say this to you but they aren't all innocent." I finally broke free of her and I dropped her to the floor. I held her down with both arms while I was on top of her. All she did was give me a smile. An eerie smile that made a shiver run down my spine. "I should kill you for what you've done," I whispered. "I should make you pay." "Oh, but Sebastian, you won't," she said. "You know why? Because at the end of the day I'm still me, and you will never hurt me, will you?" I hated that she was right. I couldn't kill her. My mind told me that it would be the best to do it but my heart told me otherwise. I mentally cursed at myself for letting this happen to her. "Elora, I know you're still in there." I said. She was still on the ground, but she was not resisting which seemed odd. "She died a long time ago," she said finally. "Alongside her love for you." ___ Book Two in the "From Death to Life" Trilogy #13 in Bloodlust
