Born into a time when England was conquered with power and wealth, Matilda is the only legitimate daughter of Henry I, King of England and his wife Matilda of Scotland.
Forced into marriage for a political alliance, Matilda soon finds herself the young widow of the Holy Roman Emperor and when her brother dies, a new heir for England.
