From an Older More Trusting Time

Our tale starts with an ending and a beginning, the volcanic home to the dormant flame elemental, Alonzo. It was the very place that brought an end to so many, yet a start to another. Our hero; well, there isn't one. At least, not in Alonzo's eyes, but if you were to ask another? Well, they might point you Alonzo's way, they may not. It really depends who you ask. Alonzo, our hero-not hero, spent his dormant years deep within a volcano that soon became known as Erebor by its newest occupants, the dwarves. Never once did the dwarves question the seemingly never ending heat emitted from the "mountain's" very core, but maybe things would have turned out for the worse if they had. If Alonzo had been aware that the dwarves resided within his volcano, he would have no doubt caused quite the calamity to befall the lands. Though, he might have been able to stop Smaug the Golden from calling the dormant volcano his home. Although many thought that there was nothing Smaug feared; there was one thing, and that was the elementals and there was good reason for it. Alonzo had a personal vendetta against the fiery beasts; one such creature had betrayed him for their own insatiable lust for gold and proceeded to tear apart everything he was. You see, Alonzo may not be the hero so to speak, but he will play a major role in the lives of many. His hatred of dragons and soon to be hatred of dwarves alike would enable him to finish an age-old journey of his. This is that very tale, yet as you may know, not everything you set out to find is as you may have thought...
