Sometimes dreams are more than just an over active imagination. For Damia DeAngelus, 17 year old high school student, that's a big problem. Since the death of her parents, Damia has woken up almost every night afraid, memories she couldn't possibly have-- of the accident, of a red eyed man standing over her parents broken bodies-- leaving her sweating and shaking in the dead of night. Now, living with her aunt in the tiny south Texas town of Reinton Heights, the only person who sees even a glimpse of her darker side is her best friend, Chase Allen, a boy who Damia continues to insist is "just a friend." However, when he goes missing, the dark past they share becomes harder and harder to ignore, details she never wanted to know coming to light. As the days pass and Damia finds herself searching for him when no one else will, the lines of reality and insanity begin to blur, leaving Damia wondering if there really is such a thing as monsters.
