Dante is a member  of the Order an ancient organisation surrounded by secrecy, shadows and stories telling of their heroic deeds in protecting the Kingdom of Arineith. He would do anything to protect his newly crowned King but when an ancient evil threatens the king's safety Dante is ordered to release and draw upon the help of a woman no better then a beast. 

Elainne murdered the Good King, former ruler of Arineith and would've killed his son had the order not stopped and thrown her in prison. Released by the very people who put her away Elainne is made to swear to help the order and save the new king in exchange for her freedom.
