Natalie lives in the sixteenth century with the rest of her people who hide deep in the forest away from the sun. But her soul is restless and wants to fit in with the day dwellers, those born of Eve, and that is when she meets Tycel.
The first person to ever show her that her ancestry does not determine who she is.

So, he cursed the second woman that when she dies and goes to heaven, and when she meets her husband in heaven she will disappear in front of him and be with him forever. . . .
