When Liontail catches her listening to a conversation between her brother and Honeywhisker, Redpaw explains the problem. But when a strange cat takes his sister out of StreamClan on the day of their apprentice ceremony, he quickly realizes such hope has become impossible. Sunpaw just wants to prove to his clan, BreezeClan that he can become a great warrior. But it isn't as easy as it sounds. Even though his rival apprentice Slowpaw is much younger than him, he is always beaten in battle training and he can never catch nearly as much prey. His mentor doesn't make it any better either. Pounceheart is always treating him like some helpless kit and he worries he'll never be able to complete his warrior assessment. Being a healer who suffers from severe anxiety isn't easy, but Twitchpaw knows as long as her mentor is there, she can get through it. But as tensions rise between FlameClan and CliffClan, she's worried about the future ahead of them.

Rockpaw feels like an outcast, everyday being hated on by his Clanmates for seeing things differently. So when the chance to prove them wrong comes up, he doesn't give it a second thought. But the evil still resides, and Rockpaw might know more about it then he's letting on, even to himself. Greyshard, as a former kittypet, has always thought of life in the Clans as challenging. For her, everything seems to go wrong. Every plan, every schedule, every patrol - ends up in a disaster, and its always because of her. Duckkit lives a happy life in RiverClan with her parents, and her brothers, Goosekit and Swankit. She enjoys playing and overall having fun. But after something that changes her life happens, she feels as if she doesn't fit in her clan - especially when there's a hidden traitor among her clanmates. One gathering, these five cats meet - and along with a group of other cats, they team up to save the clans. But will they succeed in doing it, and will there be other troubles awaiting them?
