What do a theatre freak, a mute, a brown-nosing nerd, and a girl who's nothing but average have in common? 

The Realm- a haven for fairytale characters who are not from any typical fairytale. It's where they live. Magic? Real. People like Goldilocks? Real. The threat of dying unless you know how to wield a sword or have the knowledge to perform choice spells? Very real. The Realm is not just where fairytales come from- it's a real place and it's under attack. 

It needs help being saved from the Silver Takeover. 

The Leaders of the Rebellion- Red, Cinder, and Snow- are doing all they can to stop the Silver Queen from controlling all of the Realm, but they can't do it alone. They call for the Hero, the supposed savior of their world, so he can save them all from total destruction. Only a Hero doesn't arrive- an ordinary teenage girl named Tessa is who answers the call. 

Tessa Matthews, along with a ragtag band of high school students, are transported from average-day Pennsylvania to the Realm of the Twelve Kingdoms with the instruction to take down the Silver Queen. Tessa is just, well, Tessa- can she become the leader the entire Realm expects her to be?

Survival was key in the fight against the Silver Queen. Either you live or you don't; there is no in between.
