Melanie's heart has been broken more times than she can count. Phil loves someone who he is convinced will never love him back. And Dan? Well, he's falling for a girl with half of her hair dyed different colours, and he has no idea what the consequences will be. A boy who seems to be around my age, 20, with dark chocolate brown hair and milky white skin. A sudden idea flares up for a song, about a boy made of chocolate. He suddenly turns around, as if he can feel my stare on his back, melting his chocolate exterior. Okay, stop it Melanie. Not everyone thinks like you.

"Some people are grey. And some are white. And some have small hints of purple or yellow or red. I am white. With a little dash of light blue." Synaesthesia is a pretty powerful thing, and for Dan? Well it pretty much rules over his life. He sees people and emotions in colours, and one day when he finally decides to leave a note for the boy he admires he hopes that he will see him in colour as well. Dan has spent his entire life writing poems and when he finally found out that nobody really cared what he was writing about he went mute. Phil is a kid with a bit of a learning problem but a passion for art. When he finally picks up the letters Dan has been leaving behind for him will he be too far behind, or will he catch up to fate.
