Everyone is born with a very unique tattoo on the Ankle, only one other person in the world has that tattoo, but they are all different colors.
Every time you fall in love with someone, their tattoo appears on your body and your tattoo appears on them. Until you meet your soulmate. You will have the same tattoo, but different colors.
People who fall in love easily will be covered in tattoos.
Aromantics will only have their ankle tattoo.
People who are having affairs will have to cover up their tattoos from their 'Lover'.
A new tattoo showing up on a celebrity's body after a show or meet in greet and realizing its your tattoo.
Kindergartners sitting at recess giggling and looking at their tattoos together and dream about their their futures and the tattoos they will have when they are all grown up.
People who are trying their best to deface the tattoos of ex lovers who broke their hearts, but even when you try to get rid of them they come back.

Everybody has a tattoo; they could be absolutely anywhere on your body. The tattoo begins appearing on the person's sixteenth birthday. Nobody has the same tattoo as they reflected the person's personality. They could be similar, but they are never duplicated. Depending on the person's soulmates mood, the colour of the tattoo changes. When they're mad, it turns a mix of deep red and orange, when they are embarrassed it changes to a bright yellow, when they are upset it turns blue, when they are feeling lonely it turns purple and so on. The Girls with the Flame Tattoos
In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. Please note that this isn't reflective of my current writing. I promise I've improved a lot. Soulmates work differently than most think. When a soulmate puts any kind of ink on their skin it shows up on the others skin. Same thing, same place. Raven Smith had been told by his parents that they were soulmates. They had gotten matching tattoos just to prove it. They weren't soulmates. So when they divorced, Ravens father started drinking and his mother commited suicide. Soulmates weren't real. Soulmates, we're always told we have one but I haven't been so sure I do. I mean I did get my tattoo and it hasn't disappeared yet, meaning they aren't dead. I guess believing in something like that takes a lot of effort. When you first touch your soulmate (Skin to skin contact) your tattoo turns a solid color. That color is the most important color in your life at the moment you touched. In this world, there's a system to tell who your soulmate is. Nobody remembers how it happened but, one day people started getting these tattoos on their right wrist. These tattoos are a basic shape that resembles your soulmate's hair. The shape is filled in completely by the color of your soulmate's hair as well. In the center of the tattoo, there are 1-5 objects. Those objects describe what your soulmate loves to do. The shape of my tattoo always fascinated me but I've never been able to put it into words. My tattoo shape is an upside-down half-circle if instead of the bottom part being flat, it opens and curves outwards. In the center of my tattoo was a volleyball, it always was a volleyball, it's never changed once. You see naturally, people tend to change hobbies, but whoever my soulmate was, they didn't change theirs, I never changed mine either which is fascinating.
