A deep sigh sounded through the phone as my father responded, "I'm marrying a woman called Miwa Asahina, we'll be working out something for you and Ema to go live with your thirteen step-brothers." His response was calm beyond all reason but I couldn't withhold my shock. "You're getting married?" I practically screamed in reply. My brain stuttered for a few moments as his words replayed over and over again in my mind. This was completely unbelievable. "We have how many brothers?" Eyes and mouth frozen wide open I stood still in the street, white as chalk, and staring straight at the house I called home. There was no way in hell I wasn't dreaming. This wasn't real. I stood, unable to speak, totally stunned as thoughts bounced around inside my skull. My life was about to get a whole lot more complicated.
