The world was once protected by superheroes who fought against the world's worst Villains. For centuries, Earth's history was shaped by the battles between Hero and Villain. When the Dreadnaught Virus was released on the world, it eradicated the Hero gene - the gene that grants extraordinary powers to anyone who possesses it. With the turn of the millennium approaching, the world is now a normal place, despite the Y2K crisis looming over everyone. Heroes and Villains are a thing of the past.

Despite being from a long line of Heroes, Milo Radcliff is a normal teenager in a normal Midwestern town. He wants more than anything to be a Hero and face off against the worst Villains the world has to offer, but he has to settle for working a paper route and dealing with the school bully. When Milo's Hero gene unexpectedly activates, and he puts the bully through the side of a house, he and his friends are swept up into a decades old battle between two nemeses that could plunge the entire world into chaos.All Rights Reserved

In an alternate timeline, the human race found a way to create superpowers. By extracting energy from stars and inserting that energy into humans, 'powers' were created. Powers allowed humans to gain unnatural abilities such as flight, invisibility, super strength or in other words, superpowers. Of course, with the introduction of something so revolutionary, people rose up in the hundreds of thousands in an event known as the Great Rebellion. The insurgents banded together under a single banner and became collectively known as the Shadow, marking the beginning of the Cosmic Wars. Out of the darkness, the Gazers were born. Using what remained of the power technology, the Gazers singlehandedly perished the evil and ended the conflict. However, there was a price to pay. Powers put a toll on the human body and had serious mental and physical repercussions. The solution was to recruit children from the age of 13 to 18 and train them so their bodies would adapt to their powers, eventually becoming immune to all negative side effects. The end of the Cosmic Wars brought forth a new age of peace and prosperity that the world had never seen before. However, the long reign of the Gazers has already begun to crumble, cracks showing up within the very thread of society. Their rule will not last for much longer. The Shadow will rise once again. People born with this gene are called "Conduits", or Bio-terrorrists if your in the majority who hate them. Conduits are viewed as monsters who only bring evil to the world, and are captured by the "Department of Unified Protection" or "D.U.P" for short. The D.U.P takes these conduits to a prison known as Curden Cay Station and do God knows what to them. So you can imagine that finding out one day that you are one of these conduits would be an extremely bad situation to be in, and unfortunately for our freshly graduated main protagonist, he is about to find out just how dark this world can be. With the death of his lover at the hands of a conduit during their escape from the D.U.P, will our protagonist fall to his anger and seek vengeance for his lover's death? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride.
