The world was once protected by superheroes who fought against the world's worst Villains. For centuries, Earth's history was shaped by the battles between Hero and Villain. When the Dreadnaught Virus was released on the world, it eradicated the Hero gene - the gene that grants extraordinary powers to anyone who possesses it. With the turn of the millennium approaching, the world is now a normal place, despite the Y2K crisis looming over everyone. Heroes and Villains are a thing of the past.
Despite being from a long line of Heroes, Milo Radcliff is a normal teenager in a normal Midwestern town. He wants more than anything to be a Hero and face off against the worst Villains the world has to offer, but he has to settle for working a paper route and dealing with the school bully. When Milo's Hero gene unexpectedly activates, and he puts the bully through the side of a house, he and his friends are swept up into a decades old battle between two nemeses that could plunge the entire world into chaos.

In a world where people can be born with a genetic mutation that gives them powers, surely you'd think everything would be like a comic book right? Well you'd be wrong. People born with this gene are called "Conduits", or Bio-terrorrists if your in the majority who hate them. Conduits are viewed as monsters who only bring evil to the world, and are captured by the "Department of Unified Protection" or "D.U.P" for short. The D.U.P takes these conduits to a prison known as Curden Cay Station and do God knows what to them. So you can imagine that finding out one day that you are one of these conduits would be an extremely bad situation to be in, and unfortunately for our freshly graduated main protagonist, he is about to find out just how dark this world can be. With the death of his lover at the hands of a conduit during their escape from the D.U.P, will our protagonist fall to his anger and seek vengeance for his lover's death? Or will he prevail and choose to be the better man in a world where the better people are at risk?
