Ever since his fifteenth birthday August Corduroy wakes up with a new scar once every week. First one, a pine tree. The second one, a shooting star. For ten weeks this happens. He tries to hide the scars but has trouble hiding the ones on his hands and face. One night he stays up to see what is causing the scars. The truth is unbelievable. August must overcome his fears and face the truth; or die at the hands of his loved ones.
