Marrissa Carming is alone. Ever since she was ten years old, she has been forced to continue writing by a binding contract that states she must finish 17 books in 17 years, resulting in a lonely, loveless, friendless life. As her 16th horror book comes out, she begins to doubt herself and her abilities since she can't write a romance novel. Then throw in David Hunter who needs his huge break as a journalist to make it to Harvard law and finally earn his sister, Lydia's, respect. With twists, turns, lies, and plenty of scandal, who knows how Marrissa's last story will turn out.
