Kitamura Rui has heard the rumors. Everyone has. The mysterious ward that borders on the edge of one's thoughts, ever-present, deliciously strange and forbidden like the fruit of legend. Her mentor, Ikehara Kaori - well, she's a different breed of journalist entirely.

When Kaori goes missing, Rui scrambles to pick up the pieces and follow her mentor's trail, even if it leads her back to the Closed Ward - even if it endangers her life.

Because if Kaori has taught her anything, it's that she should never leave a story unfinished, despite the risks, despite the carnage.

That's what it means to stake your livelihood on exposing the truth.
