Claire Brice just moved across the country with her mother and three siblings to a small town in the rainy state of Washington. Naturally, she opposes having to leave all her friends behind, and starting a new life, and she never was much for dreary weather. However, after only a few days the new house is already starting to grow on her; there was something strangely alluring about it, though she couldn't decide what. The best part was the record room, hidden away under the staircase with no door, only a frame. It was filled with shelves and boxes, stuffed full of vinyl records. All to be played on the single record player that sat on an old marble table, it's of old-fashion and a deep red color. Her siblings refuse to enter the room for reasons unknown. Even her mother becomes weary when she passes the door frame. But Claire stays adamant that the record room was a marvelous discovery, and spends hours inside everyday. Her glee doesn't last for long, as tension seems to settle over the house, seemingly emanating from the record room. Strange things begin to happen, especially with the antique marble table that she'd so admired. And when these strange happenings and uneasy feelings become physical attacks on her family and others who enter the house, she begins to think perhaps they were right to be fearful of the record room. After all, open doors aren't always a sign of welcome...
