The First World War is raging on and Alayna and her brother Mattias are caught in the middle of it. Both are stuck in the trenches, one as soldier, one as nurse. And then, as it has struck so many before, tragedy strikes their family as well, and Alayna is scared she will never be able to escape war. Beaten and seeking revenge as well as peace she is thrown into the Great War as she has never seen it before. And her only guide and companion she has to navigate the nightmare with her is just as broken as she is. And that is all before some soldiers decide to go missing...
