Kayah Martins grew up not knowing if she wanted a mate or not. When she turns sixteen, she does not find her mate. On her eighteenth birthday, a party is held for the new pack arriving to stay with Kayah's. Josiah Davidson happens to be the Alpha of the other pack and also her mate. He rejects her within minutes of meeting her. No explanation whatsoever. Kayah is outraged at first, but accepts his rejection. She becomes determined to find something that will break the mate bond fully. Along the way she discovers the "side-effects" of a rejection.
