Florence Abruzzo, a young teen from Italy, moves to America after his dad gets a job. Every morning he wakes up, gets ready, and walks out the door for school, but now since he now lives in an entirely new country, things must change. Florence is a 14 year old scrawny boy who struggles to live in his new home. He loves to read and draw. He has soft dirty blonde hair, and a thin frame. He prefers to wear t-shirts and jeans. His best-friend, Cesare Pinta, is his only friend from Bari, a boy the same age as Florence.
Florence goes through some troubles moving to America. He has to leave his best friend behind and deal with new kids who don't speak his language. Luckily for Florence, he knows how to speak English. When Florence starts thinking about Cesare and how much he misses him, he starts to realize he has feelings toward Cesare, but can't tell what they are. With unknown emotions and a new school in a new country, Florence has a pretty crazy school year. However, things are just getting started.
