THE BEGINNING
Five thousand years ago our world was nearly destroyed , not by man , but by gods from the sky . The gods grew tired of the constant agony , death and destruction that mankind had brought upon itself . And so , Epok , the god of fear , discord and hate , convinced Azari the leader of the elder gods to wage war against mankind and wipe them of the face of the planet they were so carelessly destroying so that they could start anew and create a better world free of all those infirmities such as greed , hate , fear and death . Of course , Epok being the embodiment of all those things had other things in mind . So , for seven days the gods were on a rampage , killing everything and everyone in sight , destroying cities with just the wave of a hand , tearing down monuments which the mortals used to immortalize themselves , setting cities ablaze with waves and tornados of multicolored flame which, if they weren't killing people would have been quite beautiful .
Before the gods put an end to the mortals completely , two people rose up to negotiate with the gods . The pontifex , the sole speaker and negotiator on the issues of the gods . who was made ageless by the gods for this desired purpose . And , the ronin cursed by the god runihura to live forever with no reason to live , for committing a crime seen as vile even to the embodiment of destruction . History is about to repeat itself and this time , there may be no stopping it .
