Fortnight Field Academy may have your typical drama (bullies, school work, social hierarchies, etc), but is is far from the average high school. Located deep in the mountains of Colorado, it's the perfect place for changelings (special kids who are destined to become magical creatures) to gather and learn about what their futures have in store, along with math and science and stuff.

Phoenix Saephan grudgingly starts her sophomore year when right off the bat, it becomes obvious that it's not going to be a normal year. Not only does she discover something incredible about herself, but she also makes good friends with her new roommates, Drew and Maggie.

 But soon, weird things begin to happen, and Nix traces everything back to the snobby stuck up popular girl, Aimee Pierce. With the help of her roommates and new friends, she sets out to take Aimee down, and ends up on an adventure around the world with strange people and places. The trip is hindered when Aimee discovers what they're up to.
