Cordelia grew up with her two guardian animals in a small village as a farmer's daughter. She had never seen the vast lands of the continent, Loranellie, aside from what lay inside the walls of her village. That was until the Shadow Army came looking for her. Sent by the new Queen of Cavendalan, the Shadow Army was tasked to find and capture anyone who possessed two guardian animals. Afraid for her life, Cordelia fled her village seeking asylum with a friend from a neighboring kingdom. She finds herself thrown into royal life and since she comes from a family of farmers, she hasn't the slightest idea about the formalities of court. While learning how to properly walk, talk, and act like a courtier, she also has to learn how to deceive, manipulate, and lie to save her life.
