Frank Iero has a more followers than friends. He may not be popular in real life but he sure is on the Internet. When he started his tumblr he wasn't expecting to make so many friends, and enemies.
Gerard Way pretty much has the same amount of followers as Frank except Gerard considers all of them friends. As soon as he came across bloodyiero he knew they would be sworn enemies.
An Internet war breaks out and they are left with pure spite and hatred towards each other, well, not for long.
