Avondale Academy is a prestigious European boarding school for the world's elite to send their children to study. Its student body is made up of future doctors, lawyers, politicians, millionaires....and now Evelyn Cooper. An amateur chess player from the Florida panhandle, Evelyn is way out of her comfort zone when she starts her junior year at Avondale Academy. Thrown headfirst into the world of credit cards, foreign accents, and rumors even more venomous than the ones she heard in American public school, she makes it her goal to focus on her studies and not get into any sort of drama.
But of course, there's a wrench thrown in her plans -four wrenches actually. Their names are Simon, Declan, Trevor, and Christopher, or as Evelyn likes to call them, the Aces. When she somehow manages to capture the attention of Avondale's golden boys, Evelyn realizes just how unattainable her drama free school year goals actually are. Add in a closet filled with emotional baggage and secrets, and a psychotic French girl and suddenly Evelyn has to face the fact that she's playing a game that she doesn't understand -and it looks like she's the wild card.
