The eight of them sat on the hill in silence. With detached eyes they watched the mushrooms clouds as if they were fireworks. Adams mother used to always say that there comes a time when you have no choice but to accept your fate. And that time had come for all of them. Eve gazed at the nuclear fallout as if it were snow, catching a flake on her tongue and then scrunching up her face as if she'd just bit into a sour lemon. Adam laid down in the grass with his hands under his head. "Orange is my favourite colour. The colour of a sunset" he said. "the last sunset" Peter sighed. "The end of the world" Jed moaned. "No..." There was a silence of the strike fighters and a break in the booming of bombs just long enough for Eve to whisper, "It's the beginning of the world. It's the end of us." And then there was a thunder. And then there was a ringing. And then there was nothing at all.All Rights Reserved
