I had entered a competition a few months back. I had to write a story with this excerpt in the content:

"It was still dawn when I stepped out of the cab and walked towards the entry gate of the Delhi airport. The early morning February air was pleasantly cold.
I was travelling to Bengaluru to attend a college friend's wedding. It had been four years since we graduated from the same college. This wedding was also going to be a reunion of our batchmates. But what I didn't know was that the reunion would begin much ahead of time; right in the queue in front of the airline counter.
I was almost sure it was she. Same height! Same long hair! Same complexion! Curiosity had my eyes glued to her. And then about 60-odd seconds later, when she turned, she proved me right. My ex-girlfriend stood two places ahead of me in that queue. We had never met after the college farewell."

I didn't win the contest but I know I've won if this story manages to make even one person smile. So I'm putting it up on Wattpad.

"Got it. You still haven't told me what your wish is." Seeing how insistent the man was, She joked, "If you really want to repay me, why don't you... marry me?" Seeing how tensed the atmosphere had become, She cleared her throat and tried to ease the tension. "I was just joking. Anyway, just forget it. There's really nothing I need." "I can do that," He suddenly spoke. "What?" She was stunned and asked in disbelief, "What can you do?". He regained his composure and with his usual cold expression, he replied, "I can grant you your wish, but I have to discuss it with my family first as it does not concern me alone." "Hold on..." She widened her eyes in shock and was at a loss for words. "You didn't take my words seriously right? I've already said that I was just joking!" "Well, sometimes people disguise their true thoughts as jokes." "But I really meant it as a joke! I'm not interested in you at all!" He looked lost for a moment before he replied, "Why? Every girl in Rajasthan dreams of marrying me." "But that doesn't include me!" ✿ All credits goes: JP. Sina (Obsessed CEO throws himself at me ) 'original' Note: This is not my original work. It's a Chinese novel. I'm not claiming any sorts of right over this. I like this novel very much so I'm just writing indian version of this novel coz I'm sure many of you you like this...

Featured by @Romance .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. "Why do you make these paper flowers?" He asked, looking at her through the mirror. "They don't wither like the real ones." She replied, aligning the entire bunch of paper flowers. "But they don't have the fragrance." He politely challenged her. He was a soldier. Chivalrous was his middle name. "These paper flowers, they stay with you for as long as you want. You don't really have to throw them away like people discard the real ones. They pluck them for the fragrance and colors. But once that fades, they throw it away." She said, finally looking up at him. "Not everyone!" He added almost immediately, taking one more step forward. It could be his height or his longer stride, or maybe the room was too small as it only took him two steps to reach her. "Yeah! Of course! Exceptions are there, like poets and people in love." She walked in a different direction, putting those flowers on the table. He rolled his eyes with a defeated sigh. She was a teacher. Arguing with her was as futile as making a sand castle on a seashore. "You know, gone is the era when people used to preserve the flowers of their loved ones. We don't have people like that anymore!" She said as she faced him. "We don't have that kind of love anymore." He said looking straight into her eyes. She held his gaze through the mirror for a while, trying to read through him. "I agree." Murmuring under her breath, she turned around. Taking a deep breath, watching her retreating figure, he brought out his favorite poetry book from the shelf. After he was sure she was not looking, he ruffled through the pages till he found a dried Hibiscus. The very same one which had fallen from her bag when he first saw her. With a small smile, he cautiously caressed the petals. He closed the book with a fond sigh and found her looking at him. She couldn't hold his gaze for long and looked down, crimson covering her cheeks. He shook his head with a chuckle.

She chuckled moving her hands towards my shoulder while I held her waist. "What if I am willing to get ruined?" I asked and she laughed. My heart will explode! "If you know we are both going to get ruined after this why do you want to continue it?" She asked with hope in her eyes. "So that this time around I don't runaway from all the memories of India. Featured in Serialised Spotlight Reading list of @AmbassadorsIN✨ Saanjh Mishra, a 27-year-old teacher, loved her simple, purposeful life. Her days were spent surrounded by young minds, and she found satisfaction in helping shape their small worlds. Marriage felt distant, almost unnecessary, yet when her parents arranged a meeting with a young doctor, she couldn't refuse. Ashrut Sharma, a 28-year-old pediatrician, was equally committed to his own quiet routines. Balancing his days between his studies and caring for children at the hospital, he found comfort in his solitude. Romance had never been a priority, but when his mother gently urged him to meet Saanjh, he agreed, if only to make her happy. Their first meeting was meant to be brief, an exchange of polite pleasantries over tea. But something in their shared silences and steady glances sparked a connection neither had expected. Saanjh saw a steadiness in Ashrut that felt reassuring, while Ashrut found her laughter warm, a contrast to his own reserved nature. Bound in marriage by their families' wishes, Saanjh and Ashrut began their life together as strangers, each careful in the other's presence. Yet gradually, small gestures began to bridge the space between them-a shared cup of tea in the early morning, the gentle way he'd listen to her talk about her students, or the warmth of her smile as she handed him his stethoscope before he left for work. In these moments, an unspoken affection grew, something as natural as it was unexpected. And with each quiet glance, each shared meal, they realized that love, perhaps, was not as distant as they had thought. In each other, they found not just a partner but a companion who brought a quiet joy to the everyday.
