NYCMidnight short story challenge accepts entrants from all over the world. Participants are divided into heats, given a genre, subject, character, and eight days to write a 2500 word story. The top five in each heat move on to the second stage.

I saw these great prompts in @LuckyBugBooks 's Flumptober book, so I've decided to try my hand at the challenge! I'm a little nervous, cuz this is my first time doing something like this, but I'm mostly excited because this sounds like a lot of fun!
