Annabeth Chase doesn't really know Percy Jackson. She's watched him from afar her whole life, mildly jealous of his apparent confidence and ease. She has no real reason to hate him, but she just can't help it. Percy Jackson doesn't really know Annabeth Chase. But he's always noticed her. Sure, sometimes he's jealous of her intelligence and ambition, but for the most part he's in awe of her. He has no real reason to love her, but he just can't help it. They move separately through their own slightly-miserable lives, waiting for things to change, until, at last, a dangerous situation forces Annabeth to Percy's door, and they realize that the key to happiness might just be each other. The Highschool Experiment
Annabeth is starting to feel a little TOO dependant on her boyfriend, so when the opportunity arises, she takes it. During school hours she convinced Percy not to act like her boyfriend, just as a 'fun challenge' to see how long they could do it. So now, instead of being the cutest couple in the school, they act like the don't quite know each other. With Percy as the popular boy and Annabeth the 'nerd', it shouldn't be too hard, right?
