The honorable Catriona Upton is as plain as a post with a big kind heart and an equally large fortune that marks her as a pawn -----and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when her father announces that she is to be married to the insufferable, rakish and impossible Lucas, Lord Hunt, London's most eligible bachelor.

When Lucas is informed that he was promised to Lady Catriona, the "ugly duckling" as society had dubbed her, since birth he is furious and shocked. But a promise is a promise and he is honor bound to go through with the marriage, although reluctantly.

When the two meet they share an instant dislike for one another. But their constant arguing masks a mutual attraction. And Lucas soon finds himself intrigued and infernally tempted by his wife who he is beginning to care deeply for.
But when danger arrives, it threatens to tear them apart, unless these two wary lovers can find a way to work together....

Note: The english and extended version. Veronica, the Duchess of Audovera, was renowned as the most breathtaking woman in the kingdom, but her beauty was matched only by her reputation for arrogance and indulgence. Her life had always been one of luxury and excess-until the day her husband, the Duke, left for war. It was then, amidst the emptiness of their grand estate, that something within her stirred. Memories of another life flooded her mind, revealing a shocking truth: she had reincarnated into the body of the villainess from a fantasy-romance novel she once read. The plot was clear, and her fate was sealed. Her husband, the Duke-the novel's male protagonist-would soon fall in love with the saintess he met during the war. Upon his return, he would demand a divorce, casting Veronica aside. But the story didn't stop there. Left to stew in her bitterness, the villainess would meet a tragic end at his hands. But this Veronica was different. Armed with knowledge of the story's events, she resolved to take a different path. She would play her role with grace, sign the divorce papers without a fight, and step out of the limelight. Peace, freedom, and a quiet life were her new goals. Three years passed. The war ended, and the Duke returned. Veronica, prepared for her fate, was ready with her pen poised over the divorce papers. Yet, to her growing confusion, the Duke didn't say a word about separation. His eyes, once cold and distant, now lingered on her with an intensity she didn't recognize. "Why hasn't he asked for a divorce?" she wondered, her perfectly laid plans beginning to crumble. As she grapples with her husband's inexplicable behavior, Veronica must navigate a new and unpredictable future. Can she successfully avoid the villainess's doomed path, or is she destined to play a different role altogether?
The Reluctant Bridegroom Chapters 1-3 by ArabellaSheraton1
1 part Complete
The handsome Earl of Wenham has no intention of marrying any time soon in the near future. At thirty, as one of London's leading Corinthians, he sees no need to interrupt his enjoyable life, filled with the kind of sporting and gambling activities a man of his position enjoys. A wife, he feels, would hamper him. His sister Almeria, some fifteen years his senior, feels duty bound to point out to Hugo that he owes it to the title and the estates to marry and produce an heir. Failure to do so means the entire lot devolves upon his second cousin, the Honourable Felix Barstowe. She also reminds him that their father had promised an old friend, Lord Lavenham, that his son should marry Lord Lavenham's daughter, Miranda. Time has passed, and the young lady in question is now twenty two. Out of respect for his father's dying promise (which he had never taken seriously), the earl tells his sister he will pay the Lavenhams a visit, but he makes no undertaking to fulfil their father's wish. After all, he reasons, the young lady might well be a complete frump, given that at twenty two she is still unattached. Expecting nothing but a boring few days fulfilling his duty, the earl sets off the Lavenham House. He is stranded by snow a few miles away from his destination and takes refuge in a local inn. He meets up with a heavily veiled, mysterious young woman, who, by her confidences to him, he realises is the elusive Miranda. To his shocking surprise, the feisty Miranda declares she has never heard of the Earl of Wenham's glorious reputation and will not have anything to do with someone whom she declares, "is possibly so fat and gouty, that he needs to have a wife found for him." In fact, she would rather run away with a childhood friend than have anything to do with the "ridiculous" Earl of Wenham.

Not only does he possess an irresistible charm, but he stands as the sole gentleman in all of London who dares to resist her allure. Meanwhile, the Marquess St. Arcey, perceiving Eliza as the embodiment of a femme fatale, cannot bear the thought of her belonging to another. His ardent pursuit of her heart and hand further complicates matters. To exacerbate the predicament, the fate of Eliza's family fortune hangs precariously in the balance. The crucial documents that substantiate their ancestral estates and noble title are hidden within a chest, found by the royal historian. Tragically, the historian meets an untimely demise, and the chest mysteriously vanishes, leaving all clueless about its whereabouts. The historian's demise summons the long-standing rivals of the Price family - the Grays - who descend upon London with their agenda. Amongst them is the haughty Lord Daniel Gray, driven by a deep-seated desire for retribution stemming from an ancient transgression that saw his family's property pass into the hands of the Prices. His presence in Eliza's life becomes an omen of unfortunate events, marked by searing insults unleashed each time their paths cross. Will Eliza navigate this maelstrom of emotions and choices to find her ultimate happiness? And who shall claim the chest concealing the Price family's fortunes?
